Infant Baptism - Why Is The Issue Important ?

In the last couple of months, there have been four or five “Doctrine Matters” messages proving that “infant baptism” is unscriptural. Some might think this is an unimportant matter. Just why is it important? First consider Matthew 15:9 - But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Infant baptism is not taught in God’s word, and is therefore a commandment of men. That means those who teach it are teaching a commandment of men. Therefore their worship is vain. That means they cannot go to heaven. You can’t go to heaven if your worship is vain (i.e., useless, worthless), right?Consider also II John verse 9 - Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. Since the doctrine of Christ does not include infant baptism, then those believing, teaching, or practicing it are not abiding in the doctrine of Christ. Therefore they do not have God. So they cannot go to heaven (I John 5:12).Now do you see why it is so important to oppose infant baptism and every other false religious practice?
