Becoming A True Christian Is A Much Bigger Commitment Than A Denominational Church Commitment
Becoming a true disciple of Christ (John 8:31) is making a commitment to eliminate all sin (I John 2:1a) as opposed to thinking it is okay to continue in sin (Rom 6:1). Just the opposite, denominational churches usually have some or all of these mantras:
· we are born with a sinful nature therefore we can’t help but sin (but Eccl 7:29, Ezek 18:20)
· no need to be concerned about sin; Jesus’ death will take care of it (but Rom 6:23, I John 1:9)
· obedience is not necessary to salvation; faith only will suffice (but Matt 7:21, Heb 5:9)
· once saved always saved (but Gal 5:4, Rev 3:5)
· we are born sinners therefore we have to sin (but Heb 4:15/2:17, I Pet 2:21)
· we don’t have to follow the scriptures that we don’t agree with, or that don’t make sense to us (but Prov 14:12, Isa 55:8-9)
· instead do what’s politically correct, what will bring in the most people (but Matt 7:13-14, Rom 3:8)
· we all sin therefore it is okay to sin (but John 5:14, John 8:11)
