Confessing Christ Is Necessary To Salvation And Comes After A Sinner Believes

A very simple way to prove salvation does not come at the point of faith is by just noting confessing Christ with the mouth is necessary to salvation (Romans 10:9-10), and of course one can’t honestly confess he believes in Christ (Acts 8:37) without first believing in Christ. So since confession comes after faith, and since confession is necessary to salvation, salvation at the point of faith (or by faith only) is disproven.

While we are on the subject, remember this confession has to be done with the mouth. Just nodding one’s head in answer to a question “Do you believe Jesus is the Son of God?” is not good enough, since the confession has to be done with the mouth. Having said that, there is nothing that says a confession has to be done immediately preceding one’s baptism. Most people believe in Christ months or sometimes even years before they are baptized, and so probably have confessed with the mouth they believe in Christ many times before they finally decide to get baptized. Any of those honest confessions after they truly believed will suffice, as long as they are done with the mouth (verbally).
