Obeying The Gospel

II Thess 1:8 says that on the judgment day, God will “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” You hear the expression “accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior” all the time, which is equivalent to “know … God” in this verse, but how often do you hear the phrase “obey … the gospel,” which is also found in this verse? It seems the teaching of many is skewed, meaning they emphasize one Bible concept to the exclusion of another.“Obeying the gospel” would simply mean obeying the instructions/commands made obligatory by the gospel / New Testament (Heb 5:9, Matt 7:21). Have you done that? Did you realize that doing so is made necessary to salvation by II Thess 1:8 and other scriptures? Knowing (believing in) God is not enough all by itself. We must also “obey the gospel” to be saved (according to II Thess 1:8).
